Consortium led by PORR to redevelop Częstochowa Towarowa station

Warsaw, 18.06.2024 - PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. has signed a contract for the redevelopment of Częstochowa Towarowa station with the contractor - a consortium of PORR S.A. and Trakcja System Sp. z o.o. The value of the investment is PLN 64.5 million net. Completion of the works is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
The scope of work specified in the contract includes the optimisation of the track layout in the form of the removal of redundant tracks and turnout connections, as well as the reconstruction of turnout heads in the main auxiliary and station tracks. The remaining tracks will receive a new track surface with a total length of 3.9 km, turnouts will also be replaced and the catenary network rebuilt. The section will be equipped with modern traffic control devices. A supervision and monitoring system will be set up, along with appropriate equipment for the traffic officer's station. A new signal box will be built. This modern facility will replace the current two control boxes equipped with old relay devices from the 1960s. This will allow safe and efficient operation of railway traffic. In future, the signal box will serve as the Local Control Centre.
