PORR to renovate historic signal box in Bytom

Warsaw, March 29, 2024 - PORR S.A. has signed a contract with PKP PLK S.A. for the renovation of the 1935-built gate signal box in Bytom. The task, worth more than one million zlotys, will be completed by the end of this year. The investment is part of the modernization of railroad line No. 131 between Chorzów Batory and Nakło Śląskie, which PORR is also responsible for carrying out.
The steel structure of the historic signal box in Bytom will be cleaned and repainted. Renovation of the facade and roof will be carried out. Windows and doors will be replaced with new ones. Renovation work will also be carried out inside the facility. New lighting will also be installed on the signal box, so that the facility will be illuminated at night. The scope of the work has been agreed and approved by the Regional Monument Conservator. Such a procedure is necessary, as the object has been entered in the register of immovable monuments of the Silesian province.
The historic signal box is part of the Bytom station, which together with the platform hall built in 1929, is being modernized by PORR as part of a PLN 1.2 million net investment on railroad line 131 Chorzów Batory - Nakło Śąskie. All work is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
