PORR contractor for new railroad stop in Sosnowiec

Warsaw, 13.10.2023 - PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (Polish Railways) has signed a contract with PORR as general contractor for the construction of a new Sosnowiec Centrum Handlowe / Jęzor stop on the Katowice - Kraków railroad line section (No. 134). The task will be carried out under the "Government program for the construction or modernization of railroad stops for 2021 - 2025". The task, worth nearly PLN 17 million net, will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024.
As part of the task, PORR will build two 200-meter-long single-edge platforms. The platforms will be located on an embankment, between Orląt Lwowskich Street (DW 79) and the S1 road. Some of the facilities will be located on spans along the railroad viaduct over the DW 79 road. The platforms will include shelters, benches, information showcases and LED lighting.
The stop will be fully adapted to the needs of people with mobility difficulties. Communication will be facilitated by stairs and a ramp and elevator. The convex texture of the guiding paths on the non-slip surface will help blind passengers get to the train.
The contract will be implemented under the Design & Build formula. First, the contractor will proceed with an inventory and complete the documentation necessary to obtain permits. Then the construction phase will begin, which is scheduled to end in the fourth quarter of 2026 with the commissioning of the new Sosnowiec Centrum Handlowe / Jęzor stop.
